Each year, the Arts Council has sponsored the Allan Anderson Young Writer’s Memorial Award that is presented to students with excellent written literacy skills at Banting Memorial High School and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. The award amount is $100. Winners are selected by the school English department and awards committee.
Allan Anderson was a local author and journalist. His wife, Betty, is also an author and journalist. They were both founding members of the original arts council in the area.
